RHS Plants for Pollinators

Tradescantia (Andersoniana Group) 'Blue 'n' Gold'

Sometimes called 'Spiderwort' or 'Sweet Kate', this remarkable plant has bright yellow, glossy foliage, forming a compact mound, studded with long displays of gentian blue flowers. Flowering will continue if old flowers are removed. Suitable for beds, borders or containers.

Plant Care

Keep well watered until firmly established. Feed with a good liquid fertiliser every two weeks in the flowering season. Plants can be cut back to 2 inch in summer or spring to rejuvenate the foliage.

Height/Width

Water thoroughly, or stand pot in a container of water for half an hour before planting. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Remove the pot, place the plant in the hole so that the root ball is level with the surrounding ground and refill, firming if necessary. Keep well watered in dry weather. Feed in spring with a good, general fertiliser.
