RHS Plants for Pollinators

Silene dioica 'Rollie's Favorite'PBR

A really worthwhile garden plant, providing an exceptionally long season of interest. The neat, mid-green foliage forms a tidy clump and is topped by masses of bright pink flowers with a delicate white eye from April until the frosts. It is a cross between Silene and the closely related Lychnis and has all the vigour you would hope for from such a hybrid.

Plant Care

Deadheading will help prolong flowering. Keep well watered until firmly established, plant in well drained garden soil.

Height/Width

Water thoroughly, or stand pot in a container of water for half an hour before planting. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Remove the pot, place the plant in the hole so that the root ball is level with the surrounding ground and refill, firming if necessary. Keep well watered in dry weather. Feed in spring with a good, general fertiliser.
