RHS Plants for Pollinators

Ribes uva-crispa 'Invicta'

One of the heaviest cropping varieties available, producing fruit from late May onwards. The pale green berries are good for both culinary use and dessert use. This Gooseberry has excellent resistance to disease and is easy to grow for any size of garden.

Plant Care

Plant in any well drained soil. Prune in winter to create an open, upright bush. Keep well watered in hot, sunny spells.

Planting Instructions

Water thoroughly, or stand pot in a container of water for half an hour before planting. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Remove the pot, place the plant in the hole so that the root ball is level with the surrounding ground and refill, firming if necessary. Keep well watered in dry weather. Feed in spring with a good, general fertiliser.
