Trachelospermum jasminoides 'Star of Toscana' ('Selbra'PBR)
Trachelospermums are grown for their attractive dark foliage and highly scented flowers. Star of Toscana is an attractive evergreen climber with rich dark green leaves that turn bronze in winter. From mid to late summer, clusters of beautiful creamy, star-shaped flowers are produced with the same fragrance as the traditional white Jasmine. This plant is best grown against a warm, sunny wall, but is also good for containers and hanging baskets.
Will grow in fertile, well-drained garden soil. Shelter from cold winds. Salt tolerant so can be grown near the seaside. Prune as required in early spring.
Water thoroughly, or stand pot in a container of water for half an hour before planting. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Remove the pot, place the plant in the hole so that the root ball is level with the surrounding ground and refill, firming if necessary. Keep well watered in dry weather. Feed in spring with a good, general fertiliser.
