RHS Plants for Pollinators

Jasminum officinale

This large flowered Jasmine is a vigorous shrub with clusters of fragrant, white, star-shaped flowers tinged with pink that provide a perfect contrast to its dark green foliage. It will spread in all directions quickly and will need hard pruning to remove over-crowded stems. Perfect for growing in a sheltered site, or to cover a porch, an arch or shed with lovely, sweet perfumed flower clusters, together with pinnate, dark green leaves.

Plant Care

Plant in any moist, but well drained soil in a sheltered spot. Prune out thin, old shoots after flowering.

Height/Width

Water thoroughly, or stand pot in a container of water for half an hour before planting. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Remove the pot, place the plant in the hole so that the root ball is level with the surrounding ground and refill, firming if necessary. Keep well watered in dry weather. Feed in spring with a good, general fertiliser.
