Dahlia 'Dalaya Dark Aruna'
Dark Aruna' is a compact, almost mini Dahlia, but with wonderful, large, double flowers, of the deepest, dark red, with an almost black centre. The flowers are held above dark foliage from summer to autumn. Great for adding contrast to borders and patio pots. (Photo courtesy of Ball Colegrave)
Grow in patio containers, or plant into any average garden soil, avoiding wet areas. Cut out any dead flowers as they fade. May need some winter protection.
Water thoroughly, or stand pot in a container of water for half an hour before planting. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Remove the pot, place the plant in the hole so that the root ball is level with the surrounding ground and refill, firming if necessary. Feed in spring with a good, general fertiliser.
