Ficus carica 'Brown Turkey'

Ficus Brown Turkey is fully hardy and can be grown successfully outside, as it has been selected for UK gardens. A self-fertilising variety that can produce good crops of juicy figs. Grow as a free standing, large bush, or train against walls or fences to create a dramatic effect. Fruits develop in spring, ripening in the autumn.

Plant Care

Prune a few branches each year to within 15cm of the main stem. Plant in good garden soil, avoiding wet areas. Needs a sunny site to help the fruits ripen.

Height/Width

Water thoroughly, or stand pot in a container of water for half an hour before planting. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Remove the pot, place the plant in the hole so that the root ball is level with the surrounding ground and refill, firming if necessary. Keep well watered in dry weather. Feed in spring with a good, general fertiliser.
